Generalized Bounded Variation and Inserting Point Masses
Abstract. Let dμ be a probability measure on the unit circle and dν be the measure formed by adding a pure point to dμ. We give a simple formula for the Verblunsky coefficients of dν based on a result of Simon. Then we consider dμ0, a probability measure on the unit circle with l Verblunsky coefficients (αn(dμ0)) ∞ n=0 of bounded variation. We insert m pure points to dμ, rescale, and form the p...
متن کاملp-Lambda-bounded variation
A characteriation of continuity of the $p$-$Lambda$-variation function is given and the Helly's selection principle for $Lambda BV^{(p)}$ functions is established. A characterization of the inclusion of Waterman-Shiba classes into classes of functions with given integral modulus of continuity is given. A useful estimate on modulus of variation of functions of class $Lambda BV^{(p)}$ is found.
متن کاملSome Remarks on Generalized Sequence Space of Bounded Variation of Sequences of Fuzzy Numbers
The idea of difference sequences of real (or complex) numbers was introducedby Ki zmaz cite{Kizmaz}. In this paper, using the difference operator and alacunary sequence, we introduce and examine the class of sequence $bv_{theta}left( Delta, mathcal{F}right) .$ We study some of its properties likesolidity, symmetricity, etc.
متن کاملImage Decompositions Using Bounded Variation and Generalized Homogeneous Besov Spaces
This paper is devoted to the decomposition of an image f into u+ v, with u a piecewise-smooth or “cartoon” component, and v an oscillatory component (texture or noise), in a variational approach. Y. Meyer [Y. Meyer, Oscillating Patterns in Image Processing and Nonlinear Evolution Equations, University Lecture Series, vol. 22, Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, RI, 2001] proposed refinements of the t...
متن کاملSlope Lengths and Generalized
In this paper, we determine geometric information on slope lengths of a large class of knots in the 3–sphere, based only on dia-grammatical properties of the knots. In particular, we show such knots have meridian length strictly less than 4, and we find infinitely many families with meridian length approaching 4 from below. Finally, we present an example to show that, in contrast to the case of...
